What a great run! Last week after 17 miles I was dieing, today after 17 miles I was flying! The entire run felt nice and easy. I did km's 1 through 13 at an average of 5:26 per kilometer, and mile last full 13 km's were at an average of 5:12 per km. A nice day with low humidity helped.

So this crazy diet I was on this week ... Monday morning I weighed 179.9. I've been slowly losing some weight since I started this training cycle, and 179.9 was a slight bit higher than it should have been, due to a weekend of eating out in Niagara Falls/Toronto.

Here was my weight history last week:

Monday - 179.9 lbs

Saturday morning - 174.4 lbs (the lowest I've weighed in 25 years!)

Sunday morning - 179.6 lbs - a gain of 5 lbs in one day (!!!), which is still about nine fewer than where I started, after returning to my "normal" diet. I probably did eat a bit more than normal, worrying about my longer run.

Faith Ann tells me the sudden weight gain was due to water retained in the gluten and "other crap and chemicals" that I took in yesterday, along with my high-sodium meals, which included a foot-long Subway sub for lunch.

I can't help but think that my level of energy today was related to the lack of carbs and running on fat that I did earlier in the week. Or, maybe it's all in my head. Regardless, I'm back on week two of Faith Ann's diet next week, at least until Friday. Thankfully, week two is a little less restrictive.
