Notes

A time of 1:11:18 for the 15k, just slightly slower than what I was hoping for. For the first half of the run, there was a very strong headwind, and I just tried to keep it under control until we made the turn to get away from the wind. Lots of longer, gradual uphills in the first 13k of this route, and then mostly downhill the last two kilometers. In fact, my fastest kilometer was the last one, that I ran in 4:23 (7:06 minutes/mile pace). This was my third time running this race, although I missed it last year. It was my fastest time for this, beating my time in 2011 by a little over 1.5 minutes.

The race wasn't the most exciting part of my day. I arrived in Grande-Digue, leaving Faith Ann and Cam at a hotel in Moncton. I left everything locked in my van, except for the key to my vehicle. However, it wasn't a key to the vehicle I was driving, but the key to the vehicle I left in Fredericton! Luckily, Rina M. was there and was kind enough to drive me to Moncton to get the other key from Faith Ann. She also tried to run and flag down a fire truck, to see if it would stop and help us. Her friend also asked a stranger for a hanger - not something people normally have in their cars! Rina also suggested knocking on the doors of random houses to ask for hangers. I'm actually glad we didn't find a hanger; Faith Ann was already flabbergasted that I screwed up like that, and I'm sure she would have been thrilled if we scraped up the van door in an attempt to break into it. Oh yeah ... I forgot to mention ... I did this exact same bit of stupidity with the same vehicles/keys at the Blue Nose marathon in 2011!
