Notes

I started the race easy I swear. Just took it easy the first half mile or so but a little quick. Was thinking of doing somewhere between 6:30 and 6 minute pace. Once I got to the first mile marker I ran 6:08 which was faster than I thought I was going. I figured, well it's only two more miles, I'll speed up a little bit more and see how I feel. Ended up actually feeling pretty good! Hills were pretty rough in the 2nd and the start of the 3rd mile but still managed a decent pace. Wouldn't say I was killing myself but this didn't exactly feel easy. Still had a pretty decent push at the end for a nice progressive 5k.

For how little running I've been doing (12 mile week leading up to this woo) and how inconsistent my running's been up to this point I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't ran fast at all since late October, which now was almost 5 months ago (wow holy shit that's a long time). And only about a month into running at all. I know I have a long way to go because this still felt pretty tough, but I am still pretty darn happy. And no calf issues during the race! Definitely bothered me during the cooldown lol. But even then it was way less than how it felt on Wednesday. Glad I decided to come out.
