Gave the calf a good bit of rest after Thursday and picked a short run to do. Definitely felt better than Thursday although still frustratingly sore.

To expand upon the point I made last time, I've been reading about this thing called "eustress". Basically, in order for a muscle to heal it has to be put under the right amount of stress, a "goldilocks amount" if you will. Too much and obviously the stress will be too great. But too little (i.e. rest) will result in no healing or strengthening. But give the muscle some stress but not too much and it will recover. That is what I'm going for with these runs. Going easy, but going far enough to give the muscle a little bit of a workout to come back stronger.
