Notes

Literal cannon blast to start the race. We got a good spot on the right side and stayed right for the tangent. Me, Carl, and Ryan all went out planning on 5:20 for at least the first mile. We hit that dead on and I felt good. Next two miles were a little slower I think but felt pretty good. I think after either 3 or 4 miles Carl told me to go faster and so I did. I think I ended up going faster throughout the entire race, at least effortwise and based on how I never stopped passing people. I just kept moving from the next pack to the next pack, and each time I pushed harder I found out I still wasn't dying yet. So I just kept with it and stayed strong the rest of the race. Stomach started giving me issues at 8ish miles but by then it didn't matter. I was almost there and I had more people to pass. Saw a GD guy at around 8.5 and passed him less than a mile later. That last mile still felt strong and I pushed through with a couple other people I had caught up with. I was super dead once I finished but I had a damn good race. The super humidity kept my time from reflecting what I thought my effort was, but placewise and feelwise I am very happy with the race. Definitely didn't have the energy or the gastro-fortitude for the long cooldown I had planned though. Two very bad bathroom trips after the race confirmed that.
