Notes
This was awesome. Very not expected. My goal was 5:45 average. Plan was to go out at 5:50 pace for the first 3ish miles, then try to hit 5:45s from there cutting down to 5:40. The 5:50s did not happen, even though I was consciously trying to keep things very controlled. I finally got it dialed back a bit for the 4th and 5th miles at 5:47, and figured I could go for 5:45s till 6, 6.5. I kept holding back, but man I felt good the entire time. So when my pace crept back up again I didn't worry too much, and last 3 miles I started to put the hammer down. But 5:30 pace last 3 miles, holy crap! To average 5:30 at Feaster Five, and then run that at the end of a nearly 10 mile leg, yeah, definitely wasn't expecting that. And I was still trying to be conservative. I didn't want to blow up and then screw our team.
Super happy with this and excited for what's to come. Marathon should hopefully be a breeze. And hopefully after that I can start chiseling at the speedwork, and run some more races at different distances to see what I can do.
