Notes

Went out comfortably behind the UAlbany kid and someone from St. Rose that went with him. I knew he was a ~15 flat guy so I let him do his thing and run my own race. I was leading the RPI pack after those two guys. A couple laps in Brian took the front for a little bit. I felt really good through the mile. After another lap I decided to go past Brian and try to pick it up. Everyone went with me and it was a pretty good pack. The St. Rose kid dropped off pretty shortly after the first mile if I remember correctly. Then at some point around the 2nd mile I was still feeling good and the UAlbany kid was dropping back. I was able to catch up to him and pass him. Then I just tried to hang on for the last mile. I still had a decent amount left and wasn't too much slower than earlier on. The UAlbany kid finally passed me with a lap to go and put 5 seconds on me in the last lap. Idk why he didn't just stick with me. Had a hard last lap to finish with a pretty sweet time.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this one but I knew I was racing well so far. I just went out at 15:30 pace and saw how well I could hold it. Ended up even splitting almost the entire thing which is really awesome. I am super happy with this being my first track 5k in 2 years and still only being 3 seconds off my PR. I also haven't had too many workouts and my mileage still has a ways to go. I am hoping with some more training and time I can get my PR down to sub-15:20 this year. There are some twilight meets in late May and early June that should have some good competition.
