Notes

Did a tough workout today which, at the time, didn't feel great, but it turns out that the paces I was running were in fact quite strong. It was also much hotter today than I've been used to - to the point of necessitating the first shirtless run of the summer - which made things feel even tougher, but I did okay with it.

I did a fartlek of 5 min @ tempo, 3:30 @ 8k, 2 min @ 3k, 1 min @ mile (w/ recovery = 2:00, 2:00, 1:30, respectively). Then I took 3 min easy, and went back up the ladder with the same recoveries (in reverse). The paces for the first two pieces were 5:25 and 5:20, which was quite good. Didn't get paces for the next two, but going back up the ladder I ran 5:05, 5:03 (!), 5:16, and 5:38, respectively. These were even faster than I had hoped, which was fun to see at this stage a few weeks out from my next races. Now just need to work on making these paces feel a bit better...!
