Crazy high wind gusts - up to 50 mph. Supposed to be from the NW but it was more swirling than a tailwind.
Carpooled up with Joe - he was pacing so we had to be there early. I think it worked out pretty well as I got to warm up. Went out by effort and the paces looked pretty honest. A few people passed me that I was keeping my eye on (Tony Z, Josh J, Colin). I kept seeing Colin in the distance and thought he would break away but never did. Finally around mile 7/8 I caught up to him and we ran the remaining distance together. The last mile or so I put whatever hammer I had left down and he never matched it coming in just a few seconds behind me. Complete opposite of 2011. He was not having a good day. Never caught Tony Z but did pass Josh J (Strava guy who trains so fast but races about the same pace).
So 4 minutes faster than 3 weeks ago but the downhill helped. Looks like I'm almost back - I would expect this to be a few minutes faster if I was back 100% (but I'm also older so who knows). All together feeling good.
