My first ever duathlon - a very informal event put on by some friends in the running club. Billed as 3.1 run/9 mile ride/1.5 run. First 2 segments on the road. Broke a record for heat that day, it was 90 at the start. First 5k run went well, came in right at 20 min, passed a few people and was in 2nd. Apparently my transition was too long and began the ride in 3rd. The ride was hard, those little rolling hills when running became mountains on my old mountain bike. A couple of guys riding some nice road bikes breezed passed me as well. I came off the bike and couldn't believe how bad my legs felt for the final 1.5 which luckily ended up being only 0.75, most of it in soft sand. Ended up not getting passed again so I placed 5th overall, and 1st AG.
Had a great time and would consider another one. Might have to save up for a road bike though.
