Notes

Out in Johnson City at the Flat Creek Crossing Ranch - very small 10k/30k/50k trail race benefitting Back on my Feet. Signed up very recently trying to avoid the usual 22 mile long run 3 weeks out from Frankenthon.

3 full 8 mile loops, then a 7ish final loop. Kept a pretty steady pace first couple of loops - mostly running but walked some of the steeper uphills. Legs started to get real tired the last 10 miles or so and ended up walking both the down and uphills but was still able to maintain a consistent 'trot' on the flats until the very end. No cramping despite it warming up quite a bit towards the end. Drank plenty of fluids, took about 4 Gus, had a PB&J sandwich at most stations.

Overall quite a success. I had planned to walk in if cramps started up - didn't want to do any more damage before Frankenthon but really if my technical confidence was up I may have been able to keep an even split last loop and kept up with the folks I had been running with the first couple of loops. I was with them after the 3rd but they maintained the pace and I fell off - they finished about 10 min ahead of me. Still came in 6th place overall.
