I had a good race yesterday at the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon. One of the most scenic races I've ever experienced in the Black Hills in South Dakota. It warmed up quick, probably close to 80 at the finish but I hydrated well, took some extra salt tabs and was able to avoid cramping and finish relatively strong. The course is uphill the first half and down the second so if you can save your quads, you can easily negative split. I couldn't quite hold on the speed in miles 21-24 but still ended up with a minute negative split (only my 2nd time ever). The uphill in the first half is sneaky and if you aren't careful you can find yourself out of gas by mile 11.
Able to pick up a 3rd place Age Group as well.
