GEICO CFC Race for Freedom The GEICO CFC Race for Freedom is a community wide walk/run event that is held each fall in Oklahoma City, OK. The event is sponsored by Federal employees to raise money for non-profit organizations that participate in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The event provides an opportunity for families, friends, and members of the entire community to join together to celebrate life through philanthropy, fitness, and fun. The GEICO CFC Race for Freedom was started in the fall of 2003 and over the years the event has raised over $63,000 for CFC which provides support to over 1,000 non-profit organizations. Overall, Federal employees in 2010 raised $3.6 million in Central Oklahoma for CFC. Each year the event includes a competitive 5 Km & 10 Km run and a 2 mile fun run/walk. In 2009 the 2 mile Doggy Dash was added which allows individuals to participate in the 2 mile fun run/walk with their dog. Proceeds from the GEICO CFC Race for Freedom benefit the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The money raised through CFC provides support to over 1,000 non-profit agencies. These agencies provide relief for hungry children, support families in need of counseling, support programs developing cures for diseases, provide comfort for the dying, support for environmental protection programs, and better lives and renewed hope for millions of people. Each year several of the non-profit agencies that are members of CFC are present at the race to provide information about the mission that their agency serves in the community. More information on CFC can be found at http://www.cfc-centralok.org/ The race has experienced strong community support from both the Federal sector and private industry. Today the GEICO CFC Race for Freedom remains focused on offering the community a quality event while encouraging fun, fitness, and philanthropy.
