Notes
This was a fun race. It's my first in California. Dad, Marisa, Derek and myself drove out to Willows and found the race started at the city hall.
When the race started, I ran out pretty hard. I managed to stay in third for most of the way, but there was a mix of 5Kers and 10Kers on the street. So it was hard to tell exactly who I needed to beat.
At the halfway point, dad and I had a drink of water together and ran for the next two miles, side by side. At about the "One Mile Left Mark", I told dad that I was going to see what I could do. So I ran a little harder to see if I could close the gap on my time.
I finished and saw that dad finished closely behind me. Marisa and Derek took a nice, easy pace and finished at 50 minutes. We were all happy with how we did. It was a lot of fun.
I accidentally left my hat and Chico State long sleeve in Willows. I may never get those back.
Dad got 3rd in his division; I got second in mine. There weren't very many 10kers to compete against.
Wendy and I were in Chico for Grandpa Dick's funeral.
