This was a hard workout & probably became a little harder because, for whatever reason, I did not sleep very well last night. Warm up was fine, relaxed & easy with a slight increase in pace in the last half mile. I executed the first two intervals as planned, running the first rep very conservatively and then picking up the pace and effort about halfway through the 2nd rep. I wanted to pick it up again in the 2nd half of interval 3, but instead struggled to maintain "5k" effort a bit. Because I struggled in rep 3 I started 4 a little more conservatively, but then totally lost concentration & never picked it up as planned in the second half of interval 4. At the end of interval 4, I took about 30 seconds to reset my brain & focus before I finished the workout. This seemed to help as the final four repetitions were very sharp with consistent "5k effort" & better turnover. I was even able to push a little more in reps 7 & 8. Those final two reps were the best of the workout & I felt like I could've done a couple reps that would have matched 7 & 8. Cool down run mirrored the warm up. Completed full set of exercise routines post-run.
