Greater Boston XC festival. Whelp, not a perfect day even though the weather was nice. Ended up arriving 20 mins before the race started and "warmed up" for like 5 mins and then did some strides. The first 2k of the race went fairly well, was feeling pretty comfortable and moving at a relatively good pace. Then the course went up a grassy hill and turned into the second set of woods which was FULL of roots. The group I was chasing got a little too far ahead and I'd figure I would catch them once the roots ran out, however they never did for the whole race! (minus the final stretch). Not great on roots and it was also causing my Achilles to flare up. Ah well....still a decent rust buster! Tougher running on an XC course than I remember, last one I ran was SPAC last year and not a ton of soft surfaces to run on in the city.
