Notes
Started out today not really knowing what I had for this distance especially being heavier than I have when I was at my best two years ago. My plan was to go out a little over 7:00 pace and hopefully settle into 7:00 after a couple miles. Miles 2-4 were along the ocean and into a stiff wind that had me working way too hard at that point in the race. When I looked down and saw the 7:10 at mile 5 I thought for sure I was aiming too high but I persevered and kicked it in gear . Surprisingly I had my best mile at that point through the hilliest portion of this generally flat race. From then on I found groups to hang with and ultimately passed them all. Held it together all the way in and never really felt terrible like I did two years ago here. Personal record by 8 seconds. Definitely stoked! I guess the extra 10 pounds doesn't matter. Not sure what this means for the upcoming marathon but hopefully there are more good things to come.
