Finished the Carmel Marathon this morning in 3:57:19, a four-second marathon PR! I had hoped to qualify for Boston today, needing a 3:55 or better to do so. I was on track for 3:52 through mile 23 when I simply couldn't keep the pace. Recognizing that, I dialed back, still got my third sub 4 (which I thought I'd never do, only 7 months ago) and placed 2nd of 13 in my age group. Thus the photo...pleased, even though I missed the target. It got warm by the time I reached mile 21 which contributed but wasn't the whole issue. Feel fine post race and learned much. I ran the best race conditions allowed. Marathon #63 in the books
