Moving forward to phase 2 a week early. Decided to take the day off from running. I am slowly realizing that performing my best is not just about running as many days and miles as I can, it is about getting my body as strong and balanced as possible. In this case that ironically means NOT running even though I feel I should. If I want to run big miles and race fast I can't expect to follow an unbalanced training schedule and get away with it for long. Cross training might not seem important but it is part of the base all my mileage sits on. It should be a clear sign that something is wrong when I can easily run 10 miles a day but simple core exercises have me working hard to finish.
