5k with a group of people from work. fun trail race. me and another guy got a gap on everyone pretty quickly, and ran together the whole race. i never lead, just sat on his shoulder and was feeling pretty confident about outkicking him for the win. he put in a surge on a technical uphill at mile 2 and I had no problem following it. but then at around 2.5 mi, i just slowed up a bit on a flat part of the course. gave the guy 5 seconds and never made it back up. pretty much lack of mental effort. oh well. i probably should have tried taking the lead earlier. fun race though. rachel got second too.
