Notes

Goal for tonight was to get in 8-9 miles at threshold pace. I've done this workout once already in February at 8 miles, so figured this would be a good opportunity to push the volume. Smaller crowd tonight, started in a group with Jake (decided to run with the mortals tonight), Sean, and Keefe. Our goal was to run 5:36 pace (42 second laps).

Mile #1, done as a single 1600, just felt tough and the last couple of laps just dragged. Miles 2&3 done as a combined 3200 also felt laborious. Jake dropped out at this point and with him not doing a spring marathon, probably the better call since rest will be more beneficial for him than volume.

Mile 4 was once again pretty tiring. Mile 5, Sean and Keefe pulled away from me during lap 1 and I just let them go. Knowing I was already a little broken down from New Bedford, I wanted to try to focus on hitting my splits rather than taking off at sub 5:30. I hit my splits exact, while Sean and Keefe were probably mid to high 5:20's. At this point Sean dropped.

I did one more rep solo really feeling every lap. Talked to Joe about whether it was worth to push ahead for a 7th or just take recovery. Decided to call it early tonight due to the race a couple of days earlier and hopefully will have fresher legs the rest of the week for the rest of my runs. Also need to take Joe's advice to get in more MP miles as I've gotten away from those over the past few weeks. Hopefully will get some on Sunday during the end of the long run, but would be wise to get some in mid-week as well. Unfortunately dont think work cooperate for me to make the Thursday group run.

Tried to get in a few more miles during the cooldown, but due to Spring Break, we got kicked out shortly after 8:00 so didnt get in the full planned mileage either. Given how tired I was, probably not the worst case scenario to get the extra rest.
