Surprisingly my second best gobble ever. First mile felt fast after the first 100 meters but settled into a very controlled 5:15. Second mile slowed a bunch to 5:20 and the third mile I was hurting at 5:30. I kept listening to the crowd to understand how close 7 was behind me.
5 gapped me and and as I got to the top of spring hill, there was a good gap. I closed it on the bottom of the hill but ran out of real estate. Surprised this was my second best Gobble but this is always a tough time of year for me to race.
If I didnt give up so early in mile 3 I probably had a better chance for top 5. Never had a chance at Harvey for the really fast guys but still had a 42 year old beat me. I need to get tougher. Still, a fun day even if the Burren wasnt an option.
