Notes

I like this workout in principle, 10x800 alternating between LT and MP with the focus on being able to recover at MP. The goal for today was LT at 2:44 (5:28 pace or 41 per half lap) and 2:56 at MP (5:52 pace or 44 per lap).

I took the lead on pacing and immediately put us behind 1 sec per 200. At this point Isaac took over and was spot on the rest of the way. The LTs hit at 2:48 (my bad), 2:43, 2:45, 2:41, 2:40) and the MPs at (2:56, 2:54, 2:54, 2:53, 2:52). I Even the 2:52 equated to a 5:44, which was on the stretch end of the MP goal and was not that far off that it defeated the purpose of the workout. I was more interested in keeping MP in range and if LT went a bit quick, then ok as long as we were able to hit the MP splits.

I would have failed doing this workout solo. I needed Isaac to keep me honest and hit pace. That's why I came tonight, to keep me honest. I know when I split on pace but usually I cant reel myself back in.

Still unsure what to target for Chicago. I want to push it but am scarred from the last two Bostons and the blowups there.

I think I can hit mid-high 2:30's if I go conservative (i.e. 6:00 flat pace). The question is do I target mid/low 2:30's (i.e. 2:33/2:34 @5:52) or stretch even further lower 2:30s (5:45-5:48). If I do the latter, I potentially blow a say, 2:37, and end up 2:41 or so. I've had enough high 2:30's that perhaps I go for it and deal with the consequence. Who knows?
