Notes

Was part of the co-ed open team consisting of Pawlicki, Diona, Lexi, me, and Sean. Hit some heavy downpours on the way up to Nashua but rain held off for the actual race. Lots of ice on the side streets near the starting line and still pretty cold at 8:00, felt relieved I wasnt doing leg 1.

I was lined up for leg 4, which is the longer 9.5 mile leg. Weather was uncertain right up until the last minute, finally settled on shorts/singlet/gloves to avoid overheating. Got the handoff from Lexi and hit a couple of slippery spots in the first mile but for the most part the leg was pretty clear of ice. Had targeted around a 5:38 pace. Probably took about 2 miles before I started feeling warmed up and comfortable. For some reason mile 4 was much slower, Jake also mentioned he hit 5:43 that split, not sure what it was about that mile. Felt strong the last few miles and was consistently reeling people in ahead of me which is definitely a confidence booster when you're doing the passing.

Felt like I passed over 20 runners (although some were the sunshine start) and picked off quite a few men's open teams. Probably had a few minute gap between me and what we thought was the first place co-ed team before I got the hand off, closed a lot of the distance but just ran out of real estate before I could catch them.

Overall we finished in 4th for the coed teams (3rd in scoring as Greater Lowell apparantly had 2 teams ahead of us). First and second place were faster than last year's winning times for co-ed, they just had faster teams than us this year. Hopefully next year we can close the gap and pull out the win. Sean made a great push at Lindsay on the final leg but just had too much ground to make up with not enough miles in between. At the end of the day, turns out it didnt even matter since Linday's team didnt even score.

For the relay as a whole, SRR took 2nd place coming up short of Gate City by about 17 points I believe.
