Notes
Nice progressive run with the middle school kids. Took most of them out for 4 miles and the advanced ones and high school freshman girls went 5. All the high school girls but Grace disappointed. But Grace rebounded nicely and ran 5 miles in low 9s. I started them all out slowly for the first two miles because I wanted to keep the beginners engaged. Once we turned the novices around at two miles. My top three took off. They went out around 8:00 pace after having already done a couple of easy miles. They dropped everyone. I waited first to turn around the middle school kids and then tracked them down. after turning them around at the 2.5 mile mark I had to wait for Grace and Kristie to turn them around. This gave the top three a nice head start. They went out too fast and I caught all but one who beat me by four seconds with the head start. I'm happy with this practice.
I think I have an idea of my top 4 boys. And the top 2 seem like the real deal. My No. 3 has the potential to be a solid No. 3. Girls are a little trickier. I have one amazing girl projected My No. 2 and No. 3 aren't here yet. My projected No. 4 is coming in with a great attitude.
