I think I'm hitting another adjustment period with my running/body. It feels similar to what I was feeling a couple of months ago. My legs felt tired on this one-just tight and not as strong. I think my body must be adjusting to the new volume, etc. They weren't super sore, they just didn't feel fresh at all.
This route had a lot of hills, especially in mile 4. I found it pretty easy to take it easy today. I've gotten more disciplined about the easy runs and it's way easier these days to keep my heart rate down.
I wanted to wear my PureConnects on this one but I didn't want to risk soreness or tightness for the race so I wore the Ghosts instead. I hate those shoes. They only have 100 miles so I am stubbornly continuing to wear them. But they're short in the toe box and I wonder if they're the culprit for my toenail issues.
