the first 19 miles were glorious. i froze my ass waiting for the start, and a woman gave me a scarf and gloves. later I saw the sunrise over the Ambassador Bridge, went through the steamy tunnel, got cheered on by people lining the course. we lost our crappy pacer at 14 cuz he had to pee, so me and this elderly French Canadian French teacher named Mark ran with me and we chatted until he felt good and went ahead at 18. I died after that and barely made my way to the finish without walking. then i wandered through Detroit for an hour, unable to walk, freezing, until I found my car. at my apartment, I literally crawling on all fours up the three flights of stairs.
...but i'd do it again : )
