800 at ChicagoLands. Was in heat 6 of 7 with Wantland and Jonah. Had a pretty shitty part 1 and got pretty bad position. Was towards the back and was getting tripped up and bumped around. Right after 400 Wantland went to the front and made a hard move which strung things out, which helped a little. But I still didn't have much room to move. Going into the last lap a Carthage kid stepped on a small cone on the inside and fell right in front of me. He went down really hard and ate shit into the hurdle. I had to kinda jump to the side and avoid him. The last lap I was still feeling pretty good and could tell I could start catching some kids. On the final turn I kinda got caught behind Jonah as we started to both move out into lane 2. Finished pretty strong the last 50 though. Overall, really good parts 2-4 but still that part 1 sucked. Something the coaches immediately talked with us about since all 5 of us that ran the 800 kind of had that problem so that is something we are going to take into training this week and work on for the meets ahead when positioning is even more important.
