800 at NCC Pat Heenan Invite.
Was position 2 with the seed time that I had emailed Mahesh and Brendan was to my left. Got a pretty good jump off the line and was right on Brendan's shoulder for the first 150 until I accelerated into the lead as I know he didn't want it coming off the mile and I didn't want the pace to lag too much. Honestly, have no idea my splits. But from what I heard is that I had gapped the field which was weird. Hit the bell in the lead and just tried to hold on as I was starting to tie up a little. An ONU kid went around me with 150 to go and I tried to keep him close to see if I then could get him the last 50 but he put just a little distance on me that I could never close down completely to give myself a chance but I was able to hold everyone else off.
To be honest, I am a little upset with this. I would have liked to break 1:57 and/or win and didn't accomplish either. But, I ran a pretty solid time for it being my first 800 race on the track since May of 2018 so there is some perspective there. Good gauge of where I am at and some solid momentum moving forward with training/racing.
