Notes
Plan:
Warmup then run 5 miles at goal pace, blind, no watch. CD. It is good to start just a little slower and finish just a little faster than goal pace to simulate a race plan.
Report:
we were supposed to predict what we'll run, i put down 28:45. I put black electrical tape on my watch so I wouldn't look at it. A couple days before I tested out steps per quarter mile. I knew if I could run around 255-258 steps per half mile, I'd be running around a 5:40 pace. Unfortunately something was a little off, so the first half mile when I hit 262, I thought maybe I was going to slow. I eventually got down to about 250 steps per half towards the end, so I thought that would even it out at least, but that ended up being around a 5:25 pace, so who knows what I was doing wrong. Either way, this felt very easy and I was only a few seconds away from a 5mile PR. Also, this was an out and back. Going out 2.5 miles is a slight uphill, so turning around I probably sped up a little bit just because I was going slightly downhill. it's the monon, so it's relatively flat and a straight line.
The shoes are awesome too.
