Notes

Wabash College indoor 5k. I did what everyone told me to do, "go to the back of the pack, college kids will go out too fast and then you can pick them off." Doing that, threw me completely off, because they did not go out fast. I was planning on hitting 5 flat for the first mile, going through no slower than 10:10, that didn't happen. So I start out, immediately in 5th place, boxed in. It feels slow, I'm almost stepping on these kids. we go through 800m in 2:38... or a 5:16 pace, no no no no. So I jumped in lane three, took the lead and led for the next mile and a half or so, then 3 guys decided to move in front of me again. One guy got right in front of me and slowed down completely, and I started running 39s after I had been busting out continuous 38s. around 600m left to go, I took the lead again. There was one guy who was also unattached, who almost came to a halt, I passed him as if he was walking... not so sure what he was doing, but as soon as I hit 400m left to go, he bolts past me and probably ran a 28sec last 200. If it weren't for that first 800, I def would've been under 16, I'm in better shape than that, no doubt about it, my last mile was 4:56. Anyway, I'm 32 and the second oldest guy there was 23, so I blew them all away. Didn't get beat by any college kids.
