Decided earlier this week to capitalize on the last nice weather weekend of the year and hit up a 5k Road Time Trial in lieu of my regularly scheduled VO2Max workout. So popped on the streaks, did like 2k of warmup, and went off with a race plan to target 3:50/km and 19:20 overall. I suspected I was a touch fitter than that and the times proved that out, very even pacing throughout and the clock hit at 19:06.
I forgot just how much race efforts sucked, but this was a great fitness check. I'm 2 weeks into Phase 3 of this training plan, middle of Phase 4 I will run another TT and see if I can get under 18:45, which is my goal for this training block. Hopefully by the next training block COVID will have burned out and we'll be back to Road Racing and I can not have to solo these god damn things!
