Notes

Final PGXC race - 8K at FLCC. Last time I ran this course, Brett Long and I ran side-by-side the whole way together and I somehow managed to run under 30 minutes. I wasn't expecting anything that fast this year, so was perfectly content to run 30-32 minutes. Didn't wear a watch so no clue on splits or how I was doing.

Got out a little easier in the first half mile and was behind a lot of people, including Trisha. I passed her on the grassy plateau around half a mile in as I started picking people off. Almost fell into a creek in the wooded section because it was so crowded and I was still trying to pass people. Pushed pretty hard the middle miles, and even caught and passed Josh Harter in mile 3.

The hill up to mile 4 seemed not as bad as I remembered, until I got to the second part up to the grassy plateau again. Ugh. That destroyed me, and I unfortunately didn't have anything left for the last mile. Last time, Brett and I threw down and smoked that last mile. This year, I had lots of people pass me, which was upsetting. Usually I like to do the passing in the last mile, but I guess I gave it my all in the previous miles and just couldn't respond. Had a good kick and caught Al Evans right at the line, but a Bergen Elite kid flew by everyone at the same time.

Overall, very happy with this race, especially since I ran my fastest time on this course despite lackluster training, but I do wish I was able to close better.
