First PGXC race; held at Stuart Park in Newark. This course was tough and a bit dangerous, with lots of steep, rocky uphills and pretty technical trails, but with a good amount of somewhat flattish grass too. It actually wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting, and certainly not as challenging at Watkin's Glen. Got out fairly hard and stayed a few steps behind Streb. He pulled away a bit, and both Josh Harter and Al Evans passed me within the first mile. I caught up to Streb in the second mile, then he blasted away down a hill to catch Josh and Al. I tried to keep up with them but didn't have the strength. A STC guy tried to pass me in the last half mile but I put on a good surge and stayed ahead of him. Had a decent kick and was surprised to see my time. Streb had the course at 2.9, which makes sense. I'll call it 3 since the trails probably confused his GPS a bit, but the course is definitely shorter than an actual 5K.
