Well, that went very well for less than five minutes of warm-up. A little under a mile-and-a-half in, a course monitor lady said that the guy next to me and I were 11th and 12th, so I figured I'd try to get into the top 10 (and I told that guy, too). I passed him and gradually a few others too, so that I finished in 8th place (2nd for my age group). I didn't know if I had PR'd on that course at the time, but I checked afterward and the time was MUCH better this year (19:48 last year and 19:16 in 2009)! I actually felt the race was pretty chill; if I had known I'd be so close to the 18 min. barrier, I would have tried harder, maybe warmed up longer. Ah well, breaking 18 can be a goal for next year. Left knee seemed to slightly buckle on occasion (probably due to the insufficient warm-up), but nothing too serious. At the awards ceremony I got a medal. Very nice run; I'm happy with myself.
