Notes

Woke up feeling not great after having gone to a halloween party where the was way to many sugary cookies and candy present the night before. Spent a while putzing around the house, having some tea, and a little something to ear before heading over the Shelby Park.

Starting at S 5th Street and Davidson, headed straight over to the greenway where I did an out and back with a bunch of loops. My plan was to run 14 miles @ 5:30 pace, but right off the bat, I could tell I was running faster. When I hit the greenway which has marks every 400m, most of my splits were in the 1:18 to 1:20 range and I was feeling really relaxed.

During the whole run, I hardly felt like I was breathing or pushing my legs that hard. My hamstrings did get a little tight, but not enough to cramp my stride. In the end I ran over 15 miles at 5:19 pace which is 1:09-high pace for a half marathon, and felt like I could have easily gone 6 more with out killing myself. Great confidence booster.

Side note on shoes: Ran this workout in my Nike Katana Racers which weigh around 6 ounces. Yesterday I picked up a pair of Mizuno Universe flats that wieght just over 3 ounces. If my legs hold up, I'm gonna be running fast.

In two of your best workouts, you talk about eating "junk food." You are learning my secret! Man, you are fit. You are ready to run under 66, without a problem. Heck, if you did six weeks of marathon training, I think you would run sub 2:20 as well. Looking forward to our post race beer at the 2016 Trials!

There could be something to that. I guess all the sugar and grease is making me fast! This run defintely made me a lot more confident about being able to make it through 13 miles at a fast pace, though 5:05s are a lot faster than 5:19s...

Looking forward to some good workouts with you this winter and spring! 2016 here we come!
