Really good workout down at Shelby Bottoms with Scott.

Felt really relaxed miles 1-4 despite the head wind, though the first mile was definitely the slowest in 5:35 or so. Miles 5-8 were mentally pretty tough as we had a head wind for a lot of it and my legs were starting to feel a little heavy.

Then, around mile 10 I started feeling really good and even began pushing the pace a little bit. My plan going into the workout was 16 if I was feeling good, but 14 would have been fine. Since I was feeling really good, I ended up mentally prepping for 17, and in the end decided to just go the whole 18. The entire last 8 miles were really in control, much different from when Scott and I did out last long fast run sometime in September and I was just gritting out the last 4 miles of a 16er.

With the significant wind and 25 degree temps, I'm really happy with an effort like this. Gives me some confidence going forward.
