Notes

Got roped into running a 5k this morning, but since I didn't feel like I would benefit that much from just doing a 3.1 mile race right now, I decided to preface it with 65 minutes of long, fast running (approx marathon pace) and then run the race hard to simulate the last 3 miles of a half marathon.

After getting of to a bad start by getting lost and running into a spider web, I felt pretty sluggish on this long fast run. Was hoping to go 5:40s, but just never felt like I was getting into a rhythm like in some of the recent weeks. Partly, I ate really, really poorly last night (5 slices of pizza and 3 donuts) and paid the price today. Also, there is something about the tranquility of a greenway that helps me get in the zone.

In the end, this run was ok, though the following 5k was definitely better. Next weekend I'm going to shoot for 15 miles in 5:40 which will probably be my longest continuously hard run before my half marathon on November 18th.
