Notes

Stacy paced me :) Race started at 6:00 and it was already warm. Drank at every aid station and started GU at mile 4.5 and then every 5 miles after. Started salt tabs at mile 8 and took them every 5 miles also. Water was every 1.5 miles. Filled both my bottles with Gatorade. Made them last the whole race. Felt pretty good until mile 18 when it seemed to be heating up quite a bit. Dumped water down my shirt and over my head almost the entire race. Legs started to cramp at mile 18/19 and came and went the rest of the race. I prayed the whole time that the Lord would give my legs the strength to make it. He answered those prayers. I think the salt tabs helped a lot too. It was mentally tough from mile 20-24. Once I hit 24-25 I thought "Just hold it together, this is your race to win or lose right now" It helped me to keep going. The last mile I tried to push a little more but didn't want to overdo and totally cramp up. At that point I knew if I could just stay better than a 10 minute mile I would be ok. At the end I was totally exhausted and when I hugged John I almost hyperventilated. Took me a minute to catch my breath. Today I'm pretty sore but very happy with the results :)
