I have a lot to say about today’s race. I’ve worked my ass off to feel this good racing again. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to run this fast. My goal today was a sub 22 and I ended up running 20:59. When I turned the corner and saw the finish line the clock read 20:47 and I was on a dead sprint to reach under 21 minutes. I went into this race mentally prepared, I had a game plan and the right mindset. I was so amped up to race today. It feels so good to be getting faster. Next year I’ll be faster and stronger than the old or current me.

I also had the opportunity to race with my client Damian for the 2nd time. I set a goal for him to run a sub 27 today and he ended up running 26:23. I couldn’t be more proud of him. It’s amazing when you get to see all that hard work and training pay off in a big way. Showing up and putting in work day after day takes a ton of discipline. And it’s great to see when you earn that medal or PR. We both placed 2nd place in our respective age groups. His age group 24-29 and mine 30-34. I had such a blast out there.

At the end of the day we’re all going to have good and bad races. You’re going to have good and bad workouts or runs. It’s the way it goes. But remember to just keep showing up. Put the work in and continue to grind. Usually it’s the days you don’t want to that you have to the most. The best part about it is tomorrow is a new day and you get another opportunity. So remember make the most of your opportunities, grind and bust your ass for what you want. And don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something or you’re not good enough. Someone else’s opinion of you doesn’t have to become your reality. Stay focused, discipline yourself and go after what you want with everything inside you.
