About me:
I pastor a small church here in Jackson, and we're trying to find our way into the influence of our neighborhood. I have a history of running, as I ran the Music City Marathon in 2007 (finished 4:16:17), but haven't been really consistent since. I am now starting back up so that I can help our church raise money for the Mountain Faith Mission in Haiti.
Why do I run:
This time, I'm starting with no intentions of ever stopping, and it's the earthquake ravaged nation of Haiti that has me going this time. Believe it or not, it's the same friend, Ryan Akers, who is my connection over there. He's in good with a great mission in Haiti, and his work to raise money for their work, as well as his time spent in service for them, has inspired me to get back into it for a purpose. I have an even more important reason for running, which I confess has not always been made a priority for me, and it's my wife. She has been my greatest inspiration for healthy living and since we've been married I've actually lost weight, because I've made better food, exercise, and sleep decisions. She's the force behind all of that.
Why I started running:
I first began running in 2006 when a buddy of mine guilt tripped me into putting down my cheeseburgers and hitting the pavement. We ran the Music City Marathon together that next April, and I beat him by about 13 seconds or so. I always like to tease him about that, but since then, he's been the more consistent runner.
