3m Half Marathon

I had a smoothie 2 hrs before the race start, then I had Gel blast 30 min before the start. I did an easy warmup running with david richardson for about 10 minutes. I carried two Gu's. had one 24 minutes into the race, and the 2nd just under an hour into the race. The wind and temp was perfect. I wore a tank top, shorts, gloves, and ear warmers, which seemed perfect.

Around the 1 mile marker, I started running side by side with a girl that seemed about the right pace, so I stayed with her until about 5.5 miles. She faded behind me on a downhill and seemed to be fading more, so i stayed steady until I found a different girl to pace off of. I stayed with her until about mile 11, and picked someone in the distance to try reeling in towards the end. I was really surprised at my time. I deffinitely felt like I left everything on the course. It was all I could do to keep running even when I could see the finish line that last 0.1 miles.

My left hamstring started hurting on the smaller uphill at around mile 8, so I was worried I'd be in trouble on the big uphil at mile 9. It hurt, but didn't seem to be slowing me down. Stomach stayed fine the entire run beyond just the stress of the final miles running hard. Afterwards, i had water, a banana, and cookies once my stomach settled down some.
