With lack luster training, comes lack luster performances.

I thought I had a sub 32 in the bag. I knew I wouldn't be as quick as last year, but didn't think shooting for within 26 seconds would be so hard. Got out fine, with Kieser around 5:04, which felt great. Kept cruising through mile 2, and it still felt alright. Probably because I split 5:10. There were 2 packs with some people in between at this point, and I was in the back of pack 2. At this point, I was still where I wanted to be, not out hot, but with some screws to turn after about halfway through. Got to the bridge and this was where I wanted to start rolling. The crest was at about 2.5 miles in, and I was with Seth (RnF) and Joe (Collegeville) trailing the second pack at this point. Kieser had since moved further up. I started to roll into the wind to hopefully get Joe and Seth off my back and put some ground between us. But I got to mile 3 and still at 5:10. I didn't feel like I was working too hard, so I decided to through another pick up in at 5k, maybe catch up with the pack in front of me. But for the love of god, I felt like all I could muster was a 5:10, at what felt like a tempo effort. Not sure if it was a mental thing out there today or what. I just couldn't get rolling. It never felt like I was digging deep, but I just couldn't get myself to find the next gear.

A tad frustrating, but I'm still moving in the right direction. A slightly (ever so) better race than the Irish Run. Next few weeks i'll be doing some more milage again. Hopefully I can get back to form by fall.
