Notes
Ran the steeplechase race at SUNYACS in 10:08.23, good enough for fifth out of 12. I medaled! The first SUNYAC medal of my career and hopefully not the last. I ran a decent race, but I was hurtin' at the end. My mile time was 5:20. I led for about the first 300 meters. I was afraid that Geneseo was going to do what they did in the 10K and just wait, but they followed Dave when he passed me. I picked it up somewhere between 600 and 800 meters left. But I really picked it up with about 300 meters left. I tried to pass Niezgoda, but he took off when I got close. I knew he had a better kick and I tried to stay close. I followed him and we flew by John Zarella from New Paltz over the last water pit. Then I gave it everything I had. I was in sixth place, but Germano from Plattsburgh fell on the last barrier and I took fifth. I'm happy with the place, but I wanted to break 10:00. Maybe next week!
