Notes

---Second straight time on this loop that I didn't rip my shirt and cut my arm at the same spot. Now 2-for-4.---

Woke up later than I wanted to, so everything from there delayed the run. The plan was to get out the door by 7:15 a.m. and it ended up being 7:46 a.m. after the Garmin found its sensors (rather quick) and a brief stretch. I was slightly dreading it because I thought I was going to hurt. It actually never hurt. I felt pretty good for the most part. Unlike all of the other runs this month, my breathing was the best part while my legs were a tad bit heavy. Not too bad, but I was trying not to push it.

I will stop posting my quarter-mile and half-mile splits since I forget them most of the time anyway. But I came across the mile in 8:27 feeling pretty good. Thankfully with the slower-than-lately first mile, a PR would be out of the question. Well out of the question is a bad phrase, because I could have hammered it. But I guess not worrying about it would be better. The 8:27 might have been even slower except I stopped twice because of traffic at 0.78 miles (35th and El Cajon) and 0.92 miles (35th and Orange) as short while later.

I rolled down the hill on University before turning right on 33rd and facing that small uphill. I slowed down there considerably but got back into a rhythm. My final stop at 1.87 miles on 33rd and El Cajon, right next to Frazee Paints, killed that rhythm, although any kind of stop that isn’t a pussy stop I enjoy right now. I can pretend to complain, but breaks feel SO GOOD!!! There were probably eight or nine Mexicans waiting outside Frazee, looking for work. I crossed El Cajon and managed to dodge that tree that ripped my shirt and cut my right arm the first two times I ran it. Not today so that’s two straight times running it rip free. I hit the two-mile shortly after in 16:52, so an 8:25 (8:25.89) second mile. That’s my fastest second mile of the four times I’ve run it.

The third mile I closed in 8:30, probably a bit faster once I got to Adams. I hit the three-mile in 25:22 and finished six seconds later in 25:28.38.

Overall I was happy with the run. That’s four consecutive days for the first time since May 22-25, 2012. Hopefully I’ll get out tomorrow morning and beat the heat. Next few days are going to be hot.
