First Place OA!!
As I left the house this morning, my 4 y.o. asked me to win the race today.
Ran in third place until about mile 11, when I took the lead. Thinking I was feeling ok and could make it to the top of the hill (mile 15) no problem. Realized I was slowing when I got passed by yellow-shirt guy at mile 13ish. And he was gone.I was probably a half mile behind him at the turn around, but I was feeling beat by mile 17. He was nowhere in sight. Passing runner said i was 1-2 mins back. Hummmm. I kept going strong, and saw him around the corner ahead. Had I really caught up? He was slowing. Next thing I know, the course official on the bike was calling in that I was going to finish first, and only had 6 miles left. Fuck, i thought she was jumping the gun.
2nd place guy was a good 8 minutes back.
Maybe the best day ever even though I've run faster, better races. My son was so happy.
Spits entered, though I stopped keeping track about mile 20. I didn't stop my watch after crossing the line.
