Treadmill

Notes

Ran a short distance on the treadmill tonight at Summa Wellness for a running gait analysis session. The session was pretty informative. Basically, my form is pretty good except that I have a slight "heel whip" (looked to me like pronation) with my right foot. The interesting thing is that she said this is caused by week right glutes. She suggested that I look on the internet for exercises to strengthen my core and glutes. This is likely why I occasionally get pain in the IT band on my right knee. She said they usually try to sell training and/or therapy sessions but in my case my problems are so minor that it would be a waste of money. Posture is good and my arm swing is good. I tend to heel strike just a little, but it is done with my weight centered over my legs and feet so it is not a problem. It would be a problem if my heels landed first with my weight out in front of me. All in all, it was good to hear that I am running with good form and it gives me confidence going forward.
