54F 72%H Had originally been scheduled to 17 at MP+45, so instead ran this half marathon as a training run, targeting a pace of MP, i.e. 9:44 but run as 9:40 to protect against tangents. As it turns out from my Garmin 310xt a pace of 9:39 still brought me in a second over target time of 2:07:30. I took it easy the first half, worried about the caffeine I had had yesterday. (1 cup coffee, and one 2 liter coke (to wash down the pizza.)) I thought I was going to have tachycardia events so didn't go as hard the first half as I could have. I did pick it up in the second half, but just enough to get my average pace down to 9:40.
John Parks went with me and I got up at 0345 to pick him up at 0445. I find the first half of this course harder than the second half. There are lots of ups and downs. For the certified distance of 13.1 miles my pace equates to 9:45.
