very hot outside...when I finished it was 80 degrees but the humidity made it feel like 85. I'm guessing it was a bit warmer when I started.
Plan was to run 1 mile easy and then 5 miles at 8:00 pace (marathon goal pace) and then back off and run the last 4 miles at easy pace.
The 5 miles started off fairly easy but they got hard even though I was just under the 8:00 pace (averaged 7:54 pace) and I'm sure the heat was really factoring into this...then my easy miles which felt like 9:20-9:30 were almost 10:00 pace....I KNOW the heat was a factor but heard this week that elite runners run much slower than their marathon pace on easy days...potentially 3 or 4 minutes per mile slower so I could/should be running 10-11 or more minutes per mile on my easy days.
