Notes

1500 @ Armory

Notes: Realized the notes from the race aren't easily viewable so posting them here: 4:17 / 1500m. Got in the 2nd heat on the 1500 where the called time was 4:10 to 4:20. My goal was to go out in 2:20 (70 sec / 400 m) and see what happened from there. Felt really controlled the whole time. Definitely worked really well mentally to stay on people's backs and never gave up. Splits were very consistent but it would've been nice to feel like I had more in the final 200 meters. Got feedback that my stride seemed long and slow compared to everyone else's in the final stretch and it certainly felt that way. Could have been a bit more tactical too, ended up passing people on the inside coming off turns and waiting too long to make my move on straightaways which caused a lot of bumping/ stutter stepping at spots and I probably could've saved some time avoiding all that. Overall, I'm very happy with this race- only 3 seconds off my PR from outdoor sophomore year when I was peaking in May. I think the way I warmed up was really beneficial, and I've felt this way about abbreviated warm ups in past races where I've run especially well. I didn't have enough time to get through all the drills and stretching to the extent that we usually do but I instead focused on getting through them all quickly and getting a lot of strides in to get warm/keep my heart rate up before the race.
